Centre for Supply Chain Research hosts Research Seminar
Discussing the power of system dynamics in tackling complex, real-world problems across various sectors.
On 20 June 2025 the Centre for Supply Chain Research (CSCR), in collaboration with the , hosted a successful research seminar and workshop on System Dynamics Modelling.
The seminar was led by from the University of Sydney, who presented compelling case studies demonstrating the application of system dynamics in diverse areas, including pharmaceutical supply chains, project portfolio management in the energy sector, and mental health policy and planning. The seminar also featured a hands-on modelling session using Vensim software, where participants engaged in practical activities to build and explore dynamic system models.
Dr Hosseini is an early career researcher at the Brain and Mind Centre, University of Sydney, specialising in systems modelling for complex socio-technical problems. His current work focuses on mental health policy analysis using System Dynamics models developed through participatory methods to identify key drivers of system change and explore future transitions in Australia’s mental health system.
The event attracted a broad group of attendees and HDR students, from multiple faculties and valuable interdisciplinary discussions, highlighting the relevance of system dynamics in addressing complex, real-world challenges.
